Abstract (EN)

This thesis explores the intellectual profile and philosophical approach of Tariq Ramadan, a prominent Islamic thinker, academic, and grandson of Hasan al-Banna. It examines his cultural background, accumulated knowledge, and the figures who have influenced and been influenced by him. Ramadan departs from a reductionist and monolithic understanding of Islamic identity by placing reason and reflective thought (tafakkur) at the center of his worldview. The study highlights his original and sincere responses to socio-political events within the Islamic context, emphasizing his commitment to unveiling hidden dimensions of reality that are often overlooked or deliberately obscured. Rather than relying on traditional arguments and dominant narratives shaped by external interests, Ramadan seeks to reinterpret Islamic thought through a lens of authenticity and critical inquiry. In particular, the thesis discusses how his thought addresses the complex realities of the Middle East—marked by deep-rooted social, psychological, economic, and cultural challenges—while also responding to external hegemonic pressures. By offering an alternative intellectual pathway, Ramadan contributes to a renewed Islamic discourse that resonates with both individual and collective aspirations. His method embodies a comprehensive, non-reductive analysis of society, aiming to uncover deeper truths and cultivate a more dynamic understanding of Islam in the modern world.
