Abstract (EN)
In today's rapidly developing world and with the globalization, it is becoming increasingly difficult to adapt to innovations and developments by preserving the values of the cities themselves. Main responsibility of the urban people is to progress in a healthy way while protecting the authenticity of urban identity and creating a social, cultural and economic balance. Because cities actually reflect the identity of people living in that city. The concept of urban design has emerged to increase the quality of life of the community from a different point of view so that the needs of the communities living in the cities can be provided properly, the wellness areas can be protected and they can adapt to the rapidly developing world order. It is possible to find places with different urban identities in the same city, although the urban spaces differ among the cities. Because the requirements of each region can be different from each other. Coastal cities have been important settlements throughout history. The coast has always been important for cities and urban users. In this context, the coast has an important place in forming the identity of the city. The shores, which are public spaces, are important places in the development of the society in terms of their social, economic and cultural needs. In this regard, it is necessary to focus on the coast, which has had an important place throughout history in Istanbul. Galataport, which is on the agenda in recent years, is one of the most important coastal areas for Istanbul. Galataport and its surroundings were investigated and evaluated according to these parameters.
