Design of a new ferryboat that will work within Bosphorus

Passenger transportation between the two sides of the Bosphorus, which was commenced on1851 with the foundation of the Sirket-i Hayriye, has gone under lots of modifications sincethen in order to meet the requirements. The first paddle streamers completed their mission intime and they were slowly replaced by the current liners, which are known as ?Pearls of theBoshphorus? by the old Istanbul citizens.In this study, a new and modern liner design is composed in order to replace the old liners,which are integrated with the Istanbul and Bosphorus but at the same time both completedtheir economical lifecycle and also worn out because of lack of maintenance.In the introduction; the current status of the passenger transportation in the Bosphorus and themethod, which is followed during the composition of the design are explained.In chapter 2; historical development of both the passenger transportation in the Bosphorus andalso the liners used, current status of the transportation and importance of the liners for theIstanbul citizens are mentioned.In chapter 3; a preliminary design of the passenger liner is made. During the design processthe factors affecting the design, pros and cons of both the old and also the new designs areexamined. Main characteristics and its route are determined.In chapter 4; the detailed design of the liner is made. Main parameters and form are composedin this chapter.
