Abstract (EN)
After Istanbul was conquered by Fatih Sultan Mehmed, it began to be reconstructed and revived. In this reconstruction and revival process, the works built by statesmen through foundations have an important place. There are many Captain Pasha among these statesmen. It is seen that the Ottoman sailors were also active in construction activities apart from their political and military aspects. For this reason, it is seen that the Captain Pasha were given very privileged privileges. The privileges given to the Captain Pasha have territorial reflections. Basically, what stands out is that the Captain Pasha left social and cultural artefacts, especially since they were the heads of the naval forces. The most important of these are Kaptan-ı Derya complexes. Captain Pasha works are generally widespread in locations close to the sea, especially in Istanbul. It is understood that some Captain Pasha had social complexes built, while others had single structures, fountains or small mosques built. In our study, Captain Pasha' works were evaluated separately, their distribution according to districts was discussed and their contributions to the development of Istanbul were revealed. In addition, mapping of Captain Pasha' works was done and an attempt was made to evaluate their impact on the urbanization of Istanbul.
