Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the ways in which secondary school students studying in various districts of Istanbul are informed about conscious food consumption. The effects of acquired knowledge on consumption habits were investigated. The research group consisted of 501 students, 317 males and 184 females in randomly selected high schools in five (5) districts of Istanbul. The most healthy information on food and nutrition is provided by the following sources: 13% from internet / social media, 64% from doctors, 58% from Food Engineer / Nutritionists. In the answers given to the questions of food production and sales, the students did not provide answers in accordance with the ways of obtaining information; professional groups, undergraduate education and non-scientific information were found to affect student responses. Those who fully agree that packaged foods are harmful to health are 22%, while those who have partially agreed have a high rate of 48%. Again, the percentage of those who completely agree that the most healthy foods are home-made foods is 66%, while the proportion of those who agreed is 27%.
