Abstract (EN)
As a result of technological developments, the improvements in the service and industrial sectors made providing qualitative products necessary with the increase in lifestyle standards. Therefore, it is necessary for the business managements to meet the expectations of the customers while adopting total quality management style in order to increase the power to compete, to fulfil good production-service and to increase the share in the market. Besides the needs for qualitative personal of embroidery businesses, it is required that a good planning should be made for the tools and materials they use and for the quality control and total quality control applications in the production process. The aim of the current research was to make a case study for the quality control applications in the production process and propose recommendations for these applications. The population of the research comprised of embroidery businesses registered to ISO (Istanbul Chamber of Industry) and INSAD (Istanbul Association of Embroidery Industrialists) in the city of Istanbul. As the sampling, 55 individuals working in the embroidery businesses and a firm named DesenNakış was chosen in order to follow up the quality process. Depending on the results obtained in the questionnaires, it was found that there was no certain quality control unit suitable for the total quality control methods, however, a great many factors such as the position of competition, sales policies, the usage purpose of the product, its design, its material and control had an effect in various levels on the products prepared in line with the desires of the costumers. As a result of the process investigation, non-defective, low cost products having the features in line with the desires of the customers. It was found that embroidery industry, in particular the firms working for export, apply a working principle requiring a neat study, depending on quality and pursuing the suitability for the desired standards.
