Relationships between different body characteristics and yield characteristics in awassi sheep

This study was carried out with Awassi sheep bred in Kilis province with the aim of investigating the relationships between different body sizes and weights, and fattening and lactation characteristics. The animal material of the study consisted of 100 head of Awassi sheep and their lambs. In the study, twinning rate was determined as 11% for Awassi sheep. Lambs obtained from these sheep gained 241.0 ± 9.83 g/day live weight in intensive fattening. Marketable milk yields were determined as 76.63 ± 3.608 liters on average. In the study, positive and significant relationships were determined between live weights of sheep and different body characteristics. No relationships were found between marketable milk yield and body measurements.
