Evaluation of the relationship between nutrition attitudes of high school students and body mass index in İzmir Bergama district

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to evaluate the relationship between nutritional attitude and body mass index in high school students. The questionnaire with socio-demographic and nutritional properties and the Attitude Scale for Healthy Nutrition (SBITÖ) were used as data collection tools. 1000 high school students from public and private high schools participated in the research. Research data are summarized as percent, average and standard deviation. In the analyzes, Ki-square test, ANOVA Test and t- test were used. Looking at the data of the students participating in the research on the body mass index; 13.6%> TAG1> constitutes weak, 28.9%' overweight/fat individuals. Students did not receive information about 15.2%' and only 30.8% 'i received training from sources such as television or radio. It was observed that students consumed 97.4%' ready-made foods, 78.6%' skipped the meal and the skipped meal was breakfast. The attitude of 17-year-old men and 12th class individuals with the highest total score of healthy nutrition. The healthy eating attitude score of individuals with a father education level of high school and above, working mothers, and those with a good economic status and in-class position is higher. The healthy eating attitude score of individuals who are informed about nutrition, who do not consume ready-made food and do not skip meals is highest. BKI is associated with gender, in-class location, the source of education on nutrition, and the reason for the jump of the meal. There is no relationship between the attitude towards nutrition and the BMI. It is associated between age, gender, grade level, father education level, maternal working status, economic status and in-class position, and healthy eating attitude. Healthy eating attitude; it is a condition affected by the individual's emotion, thought, environmental, social and physical characteristics. It is important to conduct extensive research on the nutritional status of individuals during the adhesis period. Keywords: Adhesis period, bki, healthy eating.
