Abstract (EN)

Throughout human history, significant advancements have been made in the fields of science and technology. Particularly, following the Industrial Revolution, this progress has accelerated. However, these developments, when used for the benefit of humanity, offer opportunities to individuals and societies, but when misused, they can result in dangers and disasters. Situations such as large-scale wars have led to an increase in human casualties due to these technological advancements. Consequently, nations have been compelled to develop and invest in military technologies for defense purposes. In recent years, Turkey has given top priority to the renewal and localization of military technologies in the fields of security and defense due to both domestic and international threats. Increasing incidents of terrorism, the Syrian civil war, and events like the coup attempt have prompted Turkey to invest in military technologies and bring about changes in its governance structure. This transformation has also affected one of the law enforcement forces, the Gendarmerie. The main purpose of this study is to address the concept of technology, new technologies, and the technologies used in gendarmerie units, aiming to understand and explain the importance of technology and the new technologies used for the gendarmerie. Furthermore, it seeks to examine the impact of evolving technology on the gendarmerie organization. To achieve these objectives, the study is divided into two main sections. In the first section, the concept of technology and new technologies are examined. In the second section, the focus is on the new technologies employed by gendarmerie units, providing information in this regard.
