Investigation of the relationship between the nursing satisfaction and social support levels of patients underwent gynecology surgery

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between nursing satisfaction and social support levels of patients who underwent gynecological surgery. The study was performed in T.C. Ministry of Health Ordu University Training and Research Hospital Women's Birth Surgery Service between 15.06.2015 and 15.12.2015. The study was conducted with 100 patients who underwent gynecologic surgery, who were decided to be discharged from the hospital, and who met the criteria of the study.Patient information form, Newcastle Satisfaction Scale for Nursing, and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale were used to obtain the data.Descriptive statistical values such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Pearson correlation were used in the evaluation of the data.A meaningful relationship was found between the education levels of women and average of nursing satisfaction scores.Those with high school and above education levels had higher nursing satisfaction scores than women with secondary school and lower education levels.It was determined that those living in the city for the longest time had higher levels of satisfaction than those living in the district and village. The nursing satisfaction levels of the patients who stated that they will prefer the hospital again were higher than the ones who stated that they will not prefer.In the study, no relationship between nursing satisfaction and perceived level of social support was detected.
