Abstract (EN)
It is a known fact that instruments, which have been called by different names since the early times of history, represent the cultures they belong to in different geographical regions. It is a common situation that the kabak kemane and kemane in the form of kemança, which can be shown among the representatives of the mentioned cultures, are sometimes named interchangeably due to their very similar shapes and the effect of being located in close geographies. However, the two instruments differ in terms of both structural and sound quality. The aim of this study is to make a comparative analysis of the kabak kemane instrument and the kemane in the form of a kemança in terms of structure and sound quality. In these analyses carried out with the document analysis method, a comparison of the stem, auger, string, body and bow regions of both instruments was made, and based on the findings obtained, the similar and differentiating features of the two instruments in terms of structural and sound quality were revealed. It is seen that both instruments, which are accepted to have originated from the ıklığ instrument, are performed centred in Turkey and Azerbaijan, and that the kabak kemane instrument and the kemane instrument in the form of kemança are performed in both countries. The study is important in terms of shedding light on those who want to do research in this field, performers and instrument makers.
