Abstract (EN)

Throughout history, women have been oppressed, accused and punished based on their gender and identity. The crime and punishment system applied to women appears in the first cuneiform (pre-constitution) law in history. Since women are politically and legally disadvantaged compared to men, they are allowed to lead an "excluded" life. From past to present, the relationship between women and art has shown parallelism with social and economic developments. The issue of violence against women, which is evaluated within this structure, is one of the widespread and important social problems all over the world and in our country. Especially in Turkey, women whom are tortured and killed because of their gender, sexuality and identity still continue today and their perpetrators are mostly released without punishment. The Middle Ages is an important period in the formation of women's movements. In this period, the persecution and persecution of women, whom were called "sorcerers" or "Liars" by the church, were the basis for the formation of this movement. At the end of the 19th century, and the beginning of the 20th century, women's physical self-defense and self-defense movement emerged. Various studies have been carried out on self-defense jewelry designs, the earliest examples of which we saw in the 1850s. This study, especially examines torture tools specific to women's anatomy, the description of these torture tools in art, studies on women's self-defense movement and jewelry designs for self defense purposes.
