Abstract (EN)

Today's organizational structures have become more complex and flexible with the expansion of the competitive environment on a global scale reaching unlimited dimensions in the light of technological developments. Space usage methods from the past have changed in the face of needs and expectations, and traditional office layouts have become questionable. This situation has led to the emergence of innovative approaches in the office layouts of organizations. Within the scope of the study, one of these innovative office approaches called activity based offices (ABO) are discussed which; in literature, are named as operation based offices, activity-based workspaces, etc. ABO's which are examined within the framework of interior design principles are defined as offices that allow temporal and spatial flexibility of choice, provide a variety of spaces suitable for different business activities and individual preferences, equipped with up-to-date information and information technologies, where the hierarchical order is not defined by physical separation and where the entire office has the right of everyday use to all individuals instead of the office units where individuals reside. Spatial and instrumental options such as volumetric scale, furniture and usage style, and technological and atmospheric features are offered to office users. With this usage approach, ABO's support diversity, flexibility and sharing. A qualitative research design was used in the study, and sub-headings were created by using all kinds of written sources and internet data with the existing literature review. Innovative office approaches, which reflect this change, were investigated by examining the changes in office usage methods and the factors affecting the change.Within the scope of the study, the conceptual infrastructure of ABO's, which is one of the innovative office approaches and the main subject of the thesis; office design principles, other office approaches associated with ABO, and the objectives of ABO's are included. In order to support the theoretical infrastructure, seven different office interiors designed with the understanding of ABO were analyzed and their analysis was carried out with charts prepared on the basis of spatial dimension properties. In the light of all these researches and the fact that today's conditions and changes in business culture forces organizations to adapt to the new and advantageous; it is thought that ABO's will take their place in office interior designs as a highly preferred system in the future. In this context, it is aimed that the study will facilitate the work of corporate companies in Turkey by encouraging them to switch to the ABO system, and in this context, it will be a compiler resource that guides designers.
