Abstract (EN)

Violence against women, which increases day by day, shows its impact in every sense and becomes a public health problem. Femicide, which is the most extreme form of violence against women, maintains its place on the agenda as a social problem and leaves a deep impact on society. Our main research topic is to determine under what circumstances and based on what motivations individuals blame the victim, even though it is a case of femicide. Focusing on the victimized subject, rather than the perpetrator, in terms of the causes of the crime immediately after a crime incident occurs, and discourses directed at the victim who is accused and blamed for what they did or did not do passively, express victim blaming. At this point, the main goal is to understand and analyze why such a social perception occurs based on some data such as age, gender, education level, income and geography. The distinction between urban and rural areas and the tendency to blame the victim here constitute an important issue. While this perception was being formed, the structures and conjectures it was nourished by were taken into consideration, and the level of variability and difference in the point of blaming the victim by male and female participants was also determined. Semi-structured interview technique was applied. In addition to the qualitative study, a mixed research method was used by using the gender perception scale for the participants. Whether there is a correlation between sexist attitudes and victim blaming is one of the subjects of the research. Thus, trying to understand and analyze the perception of the victim in femicide cases constitutes the core of the main research motivation. Key Words: Victim Blaming, Femicide, Violence Against Women, Gender
