The interest and participation level of women in politics: Example of Uşak

Thelegitimacy of thedemocraticsystemgoesup as theindividuals of a societyparticipates in thedecision-makingprocesses. Inthispoint, theinadequaterepresentation of women, constitutingthehalfpopulation of theworld, in thepoliticaldecisionmechanisms is a crucial problem.Thoughequalitybetween men andwomentoday is establishedlegally, thegenderinequalitystillpersists in allaspects of social life. Forexample, womenhavebeendrivenback in politicalarea, forwhichthereasonsarevarious. Thiscauses, it changesamongthecountrieshowever, women in allcommunitieshave had disadvantageouspositions.Theveryaim of thisstudy is toshowtheinterestandparticipationlevel of women in politicsthroughgenderinequality. Tothisend, 400 women in Uşak weregivenquestionnairestomeasuretheparticipationlevel of women in politics. Besides, 21 women in Uşak, whoare on theforefrontsociallyandpolitically, wereinterviewed.Thedataobtained has beenevaluatedwithintheframework of thestudy. Inthestudy, I havetriedtomaketheinterestandparticipation of women in politicsconcretethroughthedata I haveobtained in thefieldresearch.
