Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to show how women with vaginismus express their experiences in this process, how they make sense of this situation, how they position themselves in society, how their femininity investments are realized in their own internal processes and in close relations with their social environment. Making sense of thesee experiences is evaluated based on the subjective experiences of woman with vaginismus. In the study, four participants were interviewed in the clinical setting. A pilot interview was performed with interview questions before the interviews was held in order for the interviewer to gain competence. The interviews with the participants were recorded with a voice recorder, put on paper and analyzed by Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis method. Based on the experiences of the women in the analyzed text, eight main categories were formed: Close relationships, Self - view, societal view, Messages from the environment, Contact with the body, Everything is okay until that moment everything is okay, Not unsolvable, Traumatic experiences. The subcategories of each category were created and the experiences were grouped. The subcategories are; Close relationships: "Relationship with spouse, Relationship with mother, Relationship with father, The relationship between parents''. Self-view: ''Meaning of femininity, Feminine duty, Worthlessness-Inadequacy, Contradictions''. Societal influence: "Transmission from the mothers, The Outlook of the woman in society, The attributions to virginity''.The messages from the social enviroment: ''The first night: From generation to generation, How can't you do, Try these, Self-educated sexuality". Contact with the body: "From girl's boy to woman body to the adult body, The attributions to the body, Nudity''. Everything is okay until that time: "Pain expectation, Somatic reactions, So it might go well'' As a result of the analysis ,it emerged that there are many social elements and myths which influence women living with vaginismus experiences and the process of making sense of it, are in harmony (the woman should satisfy her husband, virginity should be protected until them arriage, the woman has no right to pleasure, the negative experiences of the firstnight, etc). In addition becoming a woman in the society, becoming a woman in sexuel relations and the feminine investment as a result of incoming messages affects their relationship with their bodies negatively. While the relationship with spouses / partners is varied (Positive partner relationship/ Negative partner relationship), positive partner relationship has been found to contribute to the vaginism recovery process.
