Abstract (EN)
Russia, which has been in contact with the Caucasian geography since 914, has experienced many transformations in the Caucasus policy in the historical process. In 1859, the Caucasian people started resistance movements against Russian expansionism and stopped Russia's advance in the Caucasus for a while. With the 1774 Küçük Kaynarca and 1829 Treaty of Edirne, Russia regained its dominance in the Caucasus and completely dominated the religious, political and social rights of the Caucasian peoples and forced these peoples to migrate to the Ottoman lands. Chechens, the symbol people of the resistance in the Caucasus, also got their share from Russia's Caucasus policy and migrated to the Ottoman lands. In the study, topics such as the arrival routes of the Chechen immigrants to the Ottoman lands, their population, temporary and permanent settlements, the aids made by the state and the public, and the positive and negative situations experienced before and after the resettlement were emphasized. In addition, the settlement policy of the Ottoman Empire and the view of other states on this policy were also discussed. Keywords: Caucasus, the Ottoman Empire, Russia, Chechen Migration, Settlement
