Faunistic and taxonomic researhes on the family Carabidae (Coleoptera) in Kahramanmaraş and the surrounding area

Prof. Dr. Pınar ÖZALPIn this study, on the Carabidae (Coleoptera) species collected from diffferentaltitudes and climatic conditions and from localties of different vegetation, conductedbetween 2004 and 2006 in Kahramanmaraş, towns and villages belonging toKahramanmaraş, and at the borders of the nearby cities (Malatya, Gaziantep, Sivas,Adıyaman, Adana, Kayseri, Osmaniye), which cannot be competely separated fromKahramanmaraş by rivers and mountains, and sometimes in the interiors of thebordering cities which have got suitable habitat for the species. In the researchesmade 113 species and subspecies belonging to subfamilies of Carabinae, Nebriinae,Broscinae, Pterostichinae, Harpalinae, Callistinae, Panagaeinae, Lebiinae,Brachininae of Carabidae family were examined. Brief description of these sampleswith informative information, individual male and female photographs of eachspecies, aedeagus and parameres photographs of male genital organ with anidentification key of subfamily, genus, the species and subspecies and containing thespecies belonging to the same genus, the localities, coordinates, and altitudes whereeach species was collected, their distibution in Turkey and in the world andchorotypes and synonyms are also given.Key Words: Kahramanmaraş, Carabidae, taxonomy, fauna.
