Determination of health literacy levels of persons using sport instruments in public parks in kahramanmaraş

The research was done in a cross-sectional type to determine the health literacy levels of individuals aged 18 and over who use sports equipment in public parks in the Central Districts of Kahramanmaraş province. The data was collected from 219 people on a personal data form and Turkey Health Literacy - 32 scale. The statistical significance level was set at 0.05. 55,7% of the participants were female and 44.3% were male and the average age was 41.86 ± 12.17 years. The health literacy of the individuals involved in the study was found to be problematic-limited, with an index score of 32.29 (Min=5.73-Max=50,00). Of the individuals, 32,5% were found to be inadequate, 20,5% to be problematic-borderline, 30.1% to be adequate and 16.9% to be in excellent health literacy. Our study found a positive correlation between the level of health literacy and educational attainment of individuals (p<0.05). As individuals ' educational attainment increases, their health literacy scale score and the percentage of individuals who use sports equipment consciously increases. It is thought that as a result of increasing the health literacy levels of individuals, the percentage of informed sporting instrument use will rise.
