Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, investigated Kale county?s ground water hydrogeochemically whether if its suitable for drinking, usage and irrigation. The study area includes the bottom-up Upper Jura-Lower Cretaceous old İspendere ophiolite and Plio-Quaternary alluvial fan and skirt debris, respectively.Rainfall rate for stuided area is highest rate in April and lowest rate inJuly. The lowest temperature in the region is in December and the highest temparature is in July. The area is semi-arid which has a medium temperature and a climate that is close to the continental climate.Loosely attached Alluvion and debris deposits in the region is water-carrying formations. The penetration rate of pliocene sediments in the area is between 5,01.10-5m/s- 6,17.10-4m/s and the pore rate is between 25% -35%.The temperature of stuied 7 drilling and 4 caisson wellş are between 10.3?C and 21?C, and electric transformation rates varies between 153.6- 691 ms/cm. The most abundant catyon in waters is Ca+2, and the most abundant anion is HCO3-2As a result of chemical analysis of water and seasonal variation were observed in K+,Na+1 and Ca+2 values. Concentration of these ions are low at rainy periods in groundwater, and they are at high concentrations level at dry periods. The reason of this variation; rain waters mix with groundwater and render them more dilute in rainy periods. And the other reason is; using of fertilizers and pesticides (including K+), for increasing produciton levels of apricot and protect against insect. In research area, the concentrations of NH4+, NO2-, NO3- and PO4-3 in waters measured at five times in a year to understand of the impacts on groundwater for the chemical fertilizers which were used in agriculture apricot. According to the analysis of results, some well water NO3- concentrations were higher in this sense. This results show that there is a water pollution risk in some areas because of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides which were used for the agricultural purposes. In other hand, metal contents (Arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, barium, nitrate, fluoride, radioactive substances, ammonium, chloride), of well waters are suitable for TSE (Turkish Standart Institue) and it is determined that the water meets the drinking water standards. But, cause of a large area of Kale county is an agricultural land, the pollution in the future must be prevented for ensuring the continuity of the quality of groundwaterKeywords: Malatya, Kale, Hydrogeology, Groundwater, Water pollution, Hydrogeochemistry.
