Abstract (EN)

Countries has been working on solutions for unemployment, which has become a global concern. Based on many studies, a negative correlation between unemployment and education has been noted and it is emphasized that firstly the issues in educatinal system should be resolved in order to fight for unemployment. In this study, youth unemployment has been analyzed with regards to the level of government spending on education. For this purpose, government spending on educational services of Turkey and England has been compared based on monetary amounts and the distribution of such expenditures. Results of the comparison is analyzed against the youth unemployment data of the countries. Although Turkey has a significantly higher young population, Turkey's government spending on education is determined to be below England. When youth employment is analyzed, it is noted that the youth employment tends to decline in England whereas increasing consequently over years in Turkey. Because of the young population, demand on education is higher in Turkey compared to England. However in case where the demand for education would not met, qualified workforce would not be created and youth employment would decrease, which would result in an increase in youth unemployment. Finally, it is noted that youth unemployment would decrease where the education level increases and more spending on education is needed to increase the education level.
