Abstract (EN)

During the rule of the Ottoman Empire, significant efforts were made to modernize and innovate various aspects such as education, transportation, communication, culture, and art under the leadership of Sultan Abdulhamit II. One of the prominent works from this period is the "Kâmûsü'l Â'lâm" written by an Albanian writer named Şemsettin Sami, who was highly regarded during the Tanzimat period and supported by Sultan Abdulhamit II. Despite not being fully translated into Turkish, this work remains important for historians and geographers. This thesis aims to provide a new perspective on the encyclopedic work "Kâmûsü'l Â'lâm" and its relevance to contemporary Turkish literature, alongside research on Crimea and the Caucasus, and to utilize this source, written in Turkish during the Ottoman period, in the literature, taking into account the current resources.
