Abstract (EN)

Throughout human history, societies have developed various beliefs in order to make sense of the world around them and maintain social order. These beliefs reflect the culture and religious life of a society. Folk beliefs have survived until today by being passed down from generation to generation. Folk beliefs, which affect the cultural structure of the geography they are located in, have shaped the value judgments and worldviews of societies. In this study, folk beliefs in Karakoçan district have been determined and evaluated. The aim of our study is to reveal the folk beliefs of Karakoçan district, which has hosted many civilizations and has a wide culture, and to pass them on to future generations. Our study titled "Folk Beliefs and Evaluation in Karakoçan District" consists of three titles. In the first title, the introduction, the purpose, importance and problems of the study, as well as general information about Karakoçan district within a conceptual framework are given. In the second title titled "Folk Beliefs and Evaluation Related to Transition Periods in Karakoçan", beliefs related to birth, marriage, death and circumcision were presented and these beliefs were evaluated in terms of the History of Religions. In the third title, beliefs related to nature; beliefs related to rain, trees, forests, water, fire, animals as well as beliefs related to places of pilgrimage were presented and evaluated in terms of the History of Religions. The data of the study is based on field research, which is a qualitative research method. In the analysis sections, the documentation technique was used and written using descriptive and phenomenological methods.
