A qualititative research on the opinions of teachers about the character education

The study wich was done in 2007/2008 is intended to get the opinions of educationalists in different positions about character progress of children.With the approach of qualified survey, ten education alists were reqwested to fill in detailed questionnaire. As the next step, all the data that was collected was interpreted by using qualitative data analysis method.Teachers from different branches and the govorners of National Education in Yalova were subsmed in this research. In other words above mentioned sample group involves the following ;a governor from National Education in Yalova, a school inspector , a school governeri, a class teacher, a Turkish teacher, a science&tecnology teacher, an art&painting teacher, a physical education teacher, a teacher of religionus&moral teaching.The purpose of choosing different members of positions is to investigate the different points of views in the given subjectAfter the interviews, the whole sample group underlined that it is an urgent issue to focus on ?character progress in education?. They also emphosized families are rather. Inadequate to grow up their children and the teach values. They also added that teachers, similarly are far from being adequate in the orientation of students and too busy at schools to focus on character improvement. The sample group, besides put the stres that the students should be orientated towards social activities as well as the exam system should be modified.Key words: character progress, international values, educators
