Abstract (EN)
Plants have been consumed for medicinal purposes both in our country and in the world since ancient times. Most of these herbs have antimicrobial properties and have been used in the treatment of many diseases. Today, the majority of herbal medicine raw materials and medicines are obtained from such plants. For this reason, plants are studied in a versatile way, pharmacologically, microbiologically and chemically. In addition, among these plants, the use of wild fruits for these purposes has increased. Being a wild fruit type, Barberry (Berberis crataegina) fruits contain tannins, organic acids, high levels of vitamin C and anthocyanin; It is widely consumed due to its antipyretic, itching and diuretic effects. Berberine substance and other alkaloids found in barberry roots are known to have antifungal, antibacterial and antipyretic effects. In this study, the total oxidant / antioxidant capacity of the barberry (Berberis crataegina) fruit and its antibacterial properties against the bacterium Stenotrophomonas maltophilia were investigated.
