Supplier selection with decision support systems: Application in a production company

Considering today's competitive conditions, businesses need to progress and protect their assets. For this, businesses need to continue their production by keeping up with the innovations and keeping the demands of the customers in the foreground. It is not economically possible to produce all of the parts used in production by the company. For this they need suppliers. Suppliers constitute an important link in the supply chain. Supplier selection is among the multi-criteria decision-making problems that include both qualitative and quantitative criteria. In such an important decision, decision makers need to make the right decision. Every wrong decision taken has negative consequences for the company. In line with these conditions, decision support systems come into play, supporting decision makers in the decision-making process and helping them make the right decision. In this study, a supplier selection was made for the patient heating system in a private hospital operating in Aydın. A literature search was conducted to determine the criteria. As a result of the research, the criteria to be used in supplier selection were determined. For supplier selection, AHP, TOPSIS, ELECTRE, VIKOR methods from MCDM methods were used and these methods were coded using the Python programming language. With the help of the coded methods, the most suitable supplier for the hospital was determined
