Abstract (EN)

Phthalocyanines first have been discovered in 1907 but their structures have been elucidated as a result of the studies by Linstead and his group in 1933. Metallo phthalocyanine complexes (MPcs), especially copper phthalocyanine, are largely produced in the industry (about 50.000 tons per year). The usage areas of phthalocyanines such as photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy (PDT), photoconductive agent in photocopier and electrocatalyst become increasingly common in recent years. Phthalocyanines show extraordinary thermal and chemical stability. In this thesis, phthalocyanines have many uses and applications listed above, novel derivatives containing carboxylic acid end in nonperiferal position were synthesized. These novel phthalocyanines are tetra-substituted and are comprised of metal free, zinc, cobalt and nickel derivatives. Synthesized phthalocyanine derivatives were characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as UVVis., FTIR, 1HNMR, MALDI TOF,MS and elemental analysis. Among these phthalocyanines the photophysical and photochemical properties of metal-free and zinc derivatives have been examined and compared to the literature.
