iiiABSTRACTRELIABILITY AND VALIDITY STUDIES OF CARRIER TENDENCYINVENTORYŞengül İNANMaster of Arts Thesis,department of Educational SciencesSupervisor: Assistant Professor Ragıp ÖZYÜREKJune-2006, 120 PagesIn this study,it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool whichevaluates the accupational interest of individuals who are graduated from secondaryschool and up to 65- years-old and all students who are as 8th grade (Career TendencyInventory;CTI). The spherical model of Personal Globe Invantory (Tracey, 2001) isused as model.The ınventory that is developed, not only contains basic ınterest areas,but also covers high and low prestige interest areas.For item analysis,the expressions of items are changed by considering the itemswhose factor load is low and which undertakes other factors with the factor analysismethod. At the end of the second study, it has been reached a simple and stablestructure only in the sub-scales of high respectability interest and competenceexpectation.Anumber of 1850 individuals have been reached in two study performed forstructure validity.The percentages of observed factors and coherence theory ofdetermined measures in the end of second study. Result of faktor analysis revealed 13faktörs different from Tracey?s (2001).The Cronbach alfa ınternel consistency, coefficients supported validity ofınventory.Validity and reliability studies demostrated that ınventory of spherical ınterest isan valid an reliable assesment instrument.Key Words:interest,competency belief,vocational preferences,interest inventory
