Abstract (EN)
In this study, bird species found within the Osmaniye / Kastabala Wetland Area were identified, their statuses and breeding conditions were determined, and factors posing threats to the area were identified. Through fieldwork conducted over 12 months, a total of 195 bird species belonging to 18 orders and 53 families were identified. According to their statuses in the region, 33 species are Winter visitor (WV), 49 species are Summer Visitor (SV), 49 species are Transit Migrant (TG), and 64 species are Resident (R). According to IUCN data, 2 species are Vulnerable (VU), 6 species are Near Threatened (NT), 184 species are Least Concern (LC), and 3 species are Not Evaluated. In accordance with the Bern Convention, 128 species are listed under Appendix II, 60 species under Appendix III, and 7 species are Not Listed. Under the CITES Convention, 24 species are listed under Appendix II, 3 species under Appendix I, and 168 species are Not Listed. Based on breeding conditions, it was determined that 35 species definitely breed in the area, 39 species likely breed, 39 species potentially breed, and 82 species do not breed in the area. The high diversity of bird species highlights the importance of the area, laying the groundwork for increased conservation efforts.
