Abstract (EN)
The novel and advanced characteristics of the next generation solution-strengthened ferritic ductile cast irons compared to the conventional methods are investigated in this thesis study. Detailed information is provided about this specific production technique, which has been very popular especially within the last few years, and samples are produced. The models produced in cooperation with the industry are tested both mechanically and chemically, and the obtained results are compared to the models produced by conventional methods. It is observed that the produced sample of next generation solid solution strengthed ferritic cast iron reached to 600 MPa resistance for an elongation value of 20% and above. Since a similar resistance value can be obtained with an elongation value of approximately 3% for the first generation cast iron, it is concluded that the produced sample is much more ductile under similar conditions, and the mechanical characteristics of the produced sample are more superior. The realized microstructure study shows that the matrix structure is more than 80% ferritic. Hence, it is concluded that the ferrit-perlite rate is just the opposite of the similar quality first generation cast iron, and thus, a homogeneous characteristic can be observed all over the sample on the contrary of the first generation.
