Abstract (EN)

Reasoning is considered as three parts: deduction, induction and analogy. Syllogism is the most perfect form of deductive reasoning. In the syllogism it is aimed to obtain unknows from the knows. If the mind does not follow the rules of reasoning during this purpose it can make mistakes and make inferences. At this point, logic reminds the mind of the rules that must be followed to avoid mistakes during reasoning. One kind of syllogism that reserved to be examined is hypothetical syllogisims. Conditional propotisions must be considered in order to eximane hypothetical syllogisims. However, the connection and difference of hypothetical syllogisims with ç should also be addressed. In the history of logic, one of the logicians who discussed hypothetical syllogisims with details is 'Ali b. 'Umar al-Kâtibî [d. 1277]. One of the most voluminous works of logic in the which al-Kâtibî uses hypothetical syllogisims is the Sharh kashf al-asrâr 'an ghawâmid al-afkâr. In this dissertation, critical edition of al-Kâtibî's Sharh kashf al-asrâr will be made and conditional propotision, hypothetical syllogisims and hypothetical syllogisims will be examined.
