Abstract (EN)
Paddy has a moisture content of 20-25% after harvest. For the safe storage and processing of grains, the moisture content must be reduced to 12%-13%. To dry 31 tonnes of paddy, hot air with a flow rate of 45.000m³/h is used and heat is provided by 700000kCal/kg boilers. Within the scope of this study, a mould fuelled boiler reaching 700000kCal per hour has been designed to be used in paddy drying. Thermodynamic calculations of the system, whose input and output units are controlled by PLC, were made and these data were analysed electronically. Feed rate, air volume and temperature control were optimised to ensure operation in accordance with the standards of the vertical dryer. The outlet temperature of the shell boiler is aimed to reach 65°C and should be kept constant at 65°C. This study is expected to provide economic and environmental benefits by promoting the use of sustainable energy sources.
