Informal ekonomi:Siirt sample (Usury)

Informal economy, is one of the most important problems of developing countries. There is frequent discussions about the regulations that will be put into effect to solve this problem. Unregistered economic activities take place in a wide range of activities such as tax evasion, usury, drug trafficking or money laundering. Usury, which is included in the components of the unregistered economy, means the needy person taking a loan from people who possess capital stock and gets disproportionate gain with high interest, without the consent of the public authorities. It is one of the most common situations in Turkey that people without permission of public authority fall into a difficult economic situation because of borrowing with a high interest rate causing them to fall into debt and the inability of repayment of this debt. As a result, these people are being subjected to economic collapse, losing their possessions, their families splits even those people come to the point of ending their lives. In this study, the historical development, dimension of usury in Turkey and its place in Turkish law has been given. Then, information about, the dimension of usury in Siirt province, the causes, the manner in which the usury crime committed has been given and also assessments has been made about what is supposed to be done in order to prevent usury.
