Historical development process of violin and reflection of the characteristics of the romantic period on violin pieces

In this study; The structural development process of the violin, which has changed and developed greatly from the past to the present, has been examined and examples of the Romantic period violin works in which the virtuosity has been reached in the expressive sense used in solo and orchestral music are given. The data were obtained by literature search. In this context; The development and change of the violin starting from the emergence until the 20th century were investigated with the available resources. The general characteristics of the Romantic period were determined and evaluated by taking into account the Romantic period characteristics with examples from the works composed in the 19th century, which are most performed in the violin literature. As a result of the research, it was found that the violin changed its shape in the Renaissance period, gained importance as a solo instrument in the Baroque period, the development of the left hand technique with addition of jaw in the Classical period, and the expression and bow techniques with the period features gained diversity in the Romantic period. It is exemplified by 19th century works in which the Works that emerged under the influence of the characteristics of the Romantic period have reached a higher virtuosity compared to other periods by opposing stereotypes and tendency to free form.
