Abstract (EN)

Urban green areas are physical elements that make a significant contribution to a city. The quality and sufficiency of green areas for a city is quite important. The evaluation of the environmental performance of urban green areas, which are meeting spaces where urban dwellers meet nature, is a significant step towards the development and protection of these areas. Considering the planning stage of our country, it is understood that the importance of urban green areas is not appreciated. In this context, in this study; a method was used developed by Albayrak (2017) to measure the environmental performances of urban green areas in order to shed light on the sustainable planning, design and management of these spaces. The above mentioned was modified and implemented in the Âşık Veysel Recreation Area, Atatürk Park and the Great Park in the Bornova district. The method of the studs consists of seven main and twenty sub-criterions. Findings were grouped into 40-49, 50-59, 60-79 and 80 and above scores. Hereby 40-49 is very bad, 50-59 is bad, 60-79 is good, and 80 and above are very good performances. As a result of this study, performance of the Aşık Veysel Recreational Area is 71, Ataturk Park is 65, Great Park performance is 71 points.
