Public art applicayion the urban space: Istanbul sample

The public art that has been exhibited with aesthetic understanding since 1990's years has started to show its effects in Turkey in 2000's years. Istanbul is home to many historical buildings. These constructions have succeeded in preserving their existence to day by day with their understanding of public art. In this study, it is aimed to examine the effects of the changes in historical places from the historical perspective of public art. In this study, where public art is related to space and people, that is to city, public space and art relation are researched, public art concept is examined,development processes in the world and in Turkey are emphasized. The socio-cultural, economic and physical effects of public art on the city have been investigated. The relations between the places where the public art is applied and the effects between the effects of the place and the city were questioned and evaluated with the examples examined within the thesis. As a result of the thesis work, an approach to investigate and study the effects of the relations and the public art on the historical places is presented and the relation of public art to the historical places in the city.
