Entrepreneurship in the logistics sector; research in a sample firm, master's thesis

Since increasing of commercial activity, as a final result of globalization on the world, logistics sector continues to grow with rapidly. It has been seen that the growth trend in the industry is increasingly due to technological developments. This study is aimed to investigate about entrepreneurship in logistics sector. In this frame, it was intend to examine of concepts of entrepreneurship in the logistics industry, to reveal what kind of activities carried out in this sector on entrepreneurship. For this purpose, literature research was made on entrepreneurship in logistics industry. Research section of the TNT Group Sales Manager as well as face to face interviews were conducted and Izmir Chamber of Commerce had prepared the questionnaire was applied in the company. In Researh part of thesis, to face interview was made with TNT Group Sales Manager and a questionnare which was prepared by Izmir Chamber of Commerce was applied. Results of the thesis shows that Turkey's logistics development a little behind in the developed countries. The reasons of this negative view are; legislation of the deficiencies and irregularities, entrepreneurial activity is insufficient, the investment costs are high, global scale applicable collective system, the lackage of qualified workers. Necessary considerations about the specified topic entrepreneurs, state parties and now work as partners with firms operating in the sector should be brought to the contemporary level. Otherwise, both geopolitical position required manpower facilities owned Turkeywill continue to monitor the other contries'developments in behind.
