Abstract (EN)

In this study, the administrative skills of the primary, secondary and high school administrators in the district of Bayrampaşa were evaluated; and, besides that, administrative skills scale in terms of different variables and its sub-factors were analyzed. The research universe was comprised of administrators and teachers from the primary, secondary and high schools in the district of Bayrampaşa in İstanbul. The participants were 236 administrators and teachers who were chosen through random sampling among these schools. The data collection tool was "The Administrative Skills of Secondary Education Administrators Scale" developed by Akdoğan (2009). In this study, the reliability coefficient was calculated through Cronbach's Alpha and the result was .97. The administrative skills scale has six sub-factors, which are Learning School, Communication, Leadership, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Change Management and Decision Making. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS 16. The data were typed into the program and evaluated for the answer "never" was scored 1 point; "rarely" was scored 2 points; "every once in a while" was scored 3 points; "sometimes" was scored 4 points; and, "almost always" was scored 5 points. In conclusion, the mean score of the administrative skills scale was calculated as 3,61. Given this score, it is obvious that the school administrators have a high level of administrative skills. It was also found out, according to the mean scores of sub-factors, that school administrators have high levels of skills in terms of "Learning School, Communication, Leadership, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Change Management and Decision Making". When the extent to which the effect of variables are on school administrators were analyzed, it was seen, based on the administrative skills, that gender, graduate study and administrative training weren't determining factors. However, in the same scale, there was significant difference among the years of experience, type of administrative position and the programs the administrators graduated from. Keywords: 1. Administrative Skills 2. Learning School 3. Leadership 4. Communication 5. Problem Solving
