Usage the status of Turkish folk music arrangements in classical guitar education

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the use of Turkish Folk Music arrangements composed for classical guitar in the music education departments affiliated with the education faculties in Turkey, their contribution to classical guitar education and the views of instructors on the subject. This research is a descriptive study with a general survey model. At the same time, it is an "exploratory" research in line with its aim of situation determination. The population of the research consisted of classical guitar instructors working in music education departments in fine arts education departments of education faculties affiliated with the universities in Turkey. The sample group consisted of the instructors (22) answering the questionnaire. In the questionnaire applied to the sample group, for demographic information, the classical guitar instructors' titles, educational levels, working times and distributions of class levels, the use of Turkish Folk Music arrangements used in classical guitar education according to various variables and which class levels these arrangements were used in were questioned. This questionnaire created by the researcher included open-ended, 3-choice Likert-type questions and multiple-choice questions. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed by percentage frequency analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that Turkish Folk Music arrangements composed for classical guitar were mostly used at the undergraduate level, mostly known arrangements were used and musical taste was considered the most in the selection of works, as well as that the instructors generally had their students studying the arrangements they worked on or vocalized themselves and that there were more unknown arrangements than known.
