Abstract (EN)
EVALUATION OF THE ARCHITECTURAL ARRANGEMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN DISABLED FOR PUBLIC BUILDINGS IN THE VAN PROVINCE CENTER. Introduction and purpose It is possible for the individual to benefit from the opportunities and services that social life offers to people and to offer his / her own service only by accessing the places where the individual is involved. It is a well-known fact that disabled people experience accessibility problems arising from the negative physical environment and architectural insufficiency of buildings and cannot benefit from public services sufficiently. The purpose of this study; To determine the compliance of public buildings with universal standards in terms of access and use of disabled people. Materials and Methods The study was planned as a descriptive study to develop suggestions for architectural problems that disabled people experience in public buildings. The universe of the study consists of all public buildings in the city center of Van. In the study, the sample group was formed by 79 public buildings served by 51 public units in the city center, which were selected by evaluating the features such as usage, transportation, usefulness, efficiency and necessity of the disabled. As a data collection tool, the Building Evaluation Form, which contains the standards of Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) 9111 / April 1991, "Rules for the Arrangement of Buildings for the Disabled People", and which we determined with inadequate content, was used. The data were collected between May and November 2009. The data were analyzed using SPSS 11.0 statistical software. Results Study; In terms of the use of disabled people, 20.3% (n: 16) of the building entrances, 19% (n: 15) of the circulation areas and corridors, 48.1% (n: 38) of the rooms, 68.4% of the toilet partitions (n: 54) ), 50% (n: 2) of the bathrooms and 72.2% (n: 13) of the shower partitions are not suitable according to the standards, at the same time, 22.8% (n: 18) of the ramps of the building elements 26.6% (n: 21), 22.8% (n: 18) of floor coverings, 22.8% (n: 18) of interior doors, 32.9% (n: 26) of windows, 10.1% of elevators (n : It was determined that 54.4% (n: 43) of the electrical installations were not suitable according to the standards, and the necessary designs and arrangements were not implemented in these areas. Result Study; It has been determined that the public buildings in Van province are not suitable for use to meet the needs of disabled people. In the light of these results, we propose to make the necessary arrangements and improvements for the use of disabled people in public buildings as soon as possible.
