Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT THE PARAMETERS OF AFFECTING SURVIVAL IN PATIENTS WHO UNDERWENT SURGERY WITH DIAGNOSİS OF RECTUM CANCER In this study, the patients who operated with diagnosis of rectal cancer between January 2008-December 2013 were retrospectively examined at Fırat Univercity Medical Hospital. The patients with noncurative palliative resection were excluded from the study. We evaluated the patient's laboratory and radiological findings, neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy results, operations data, histopathological findings of the materials and postoperative observations. Thirty of (43%) 70 patients that operated were female and 40 patients were male. Seventeen percent of the tumors were localizated on distal rectum 33% were on middle rectum and 50% were on proximal rectum. Before the operation the median CEA value was 3 (0-215)IU/ml, mean CEA value was 11.0 ± 3.9g/dl. Thirteen patients were performed resection with laparoscopic surgery while 57 patients were performed with open surgery. Fifteen patients (21%) was performed AR, 51 patients (73%) AAR, 4 patients (6%) APR. In whole patients the mean exracted lenf node number was 17± 1 range between 1 and 51. The mean methastatic lenf node number was 2.1± 0.6. The ratio of the methastatic lenf nodes to the all exracted nodes was 0.14 The mean lenf nodes diameter was 0.7 ± 0.1. The six patients (6%) were evaluated as stage 0, seven patients (10%) as stage 1, 22 patients (32%) as stage 2, 26 patients (37%) as stage 3 and 9 patients (13%) as stage 4. After pathological phase 37 patients had an adjuvant chemotherapy and 9 patients had an adjuvant radiotherapy. The mean duration of following was 12 months (0-58), the median survey was 27 months. Consequently; 70 patients that operated were retrospectively examined. The single variable analyses on the survey was appeared that; the phase of the tumors, preoperative CEA and CA19-9 values, being elective surgery and methastatic lenf nodes were significant to overall survey. These prognostic factors of detection, treatment was concluded to be an important place in planned. Key words: Rectal cancer , prognostic factors, overall survival
