Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to retrospectively determine the change in antibiotic resistance rates of enterococci species isolated from various samples taken from polyclinic, service and intensive care patients in Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Hospital in Tekirdağ province between January 2018 and December 2021. Entero-coccus species of 417 different patients isolated from various clinical samples sent to the microbiology laboratory between 01.01.2018 and 31.12.2021 were examined. Many patient data such as demographic characteristics of the patients from which the isolates were isolated, type of sample, enterococci species obtained from the samples and antibiotic susceptibility results of the isolates were examined. The samples were collected retrospectively from the laboratory information manage-ment system of the hospital and analyzed. of the 417 patients from whom the samp-les were taken, 204 were male and 213 were female. Of the enterococci isolates, 154 were obtained from outpatient clinics, 139 from service patients, and 124 from intensive care patients. Of 122 enterococci isolates identified as species, 60 were E. faecalis, 49 were E. faecium, 4 were E. durans, 3 were E. casseliflavus, 3 were E. gallinarum, 2 were E. raffinosus, 1 was determined as E. avium of the 417 samples, 253 were urine, 101 were blood, 37 were wounds, and 26 were other sample types. Considering the total antibiotic resistance rates; Ampicillin was 39%, ciprofloxacin was 49.2%, vancomycin was 8.4%, teicoplanin was 17%, tigecycline was 3.2%, high-level gentamicin was 49%, nitrofurantoin was 11.6%. No strains resistant to linezolid were detected. There was a statistically significant increase in ampicillin, vancomycin and nitrofu-rantoin resistance rates within 4 years. ampicillin, ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, high-level gentamicin and nitrofurantoin resistance rates were found to be significantly higher in isolates obtained from ward and intensive care patients compared to ente-rococci isolates obtained from outpatients.
