Abstract (EN)

Today, with the rapid growth of the world population and the growth of the country's economies, the need to benefit from natural resources is increasing in this context and the pressure on resources is gradually increasing. The environmental sensitivity that develops within this framework necessitates changes in the production patterns of many sectors, especially mining and agriculture. Mining activities are one of the oldest industries in the world. In parallel with technology, mining activities are also developing, even in more difficult conditions, activities are carried out easily. With the increase in the demand for mines, there has been an expansion in mining areas and a growth in terms of underground and open pit mines. However, it was possible to go down to depths that seemed impossible before for both types of operation, and wider pits were created. Although these developments do not actually enter the mining area, they are also seen in sand and quarries where the same types of activities are observed in terms of working methods. Often in open pit, greater environmental degradation and impacts are caused than other mining methods. In this context, increasing quarries, especially the loss of space, cause many changes on water resources, biological environment and regional landscape.Within the scope of the thesis; the relationships between the Kınıklı Stream Basin sand beds and the groundwater in the basin were evaluated. A total of 28 soil samples from different depths were taken from 15 different sampling points in the basin. In soil samples; pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon, volume weight, texture, hygroscopic moisture analyzes were performed. According to the findings; leakage pores volume was found between 1931-5828 m³/ha/m (average 3800 m³/ha/m). This pore volume is capable of storing 193-583 mm (average 380 mm) of precipitation per 1 m² area. The water capacities that can be stored correspond to approximately half of the annual precipitation amount in Çorlu. It has been calculated that the annual water need of 80-160 people can be met if the precipitation per 1 ha area fills the leakage pores up to a depth of 1m. Considering that the registered population of Marmara Ereğlisi increased 10 times in the summer season (for 2018); water need is calculated as 8.3 million m3 and 2186 ha of sand or sandy land is required to produce this water. Key words: Kınıklı Stream Basin, sand beds, water production, water need, groundwater
