Abstract (EN)

This thesis investigated the knowledge level of students in the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nutrition and Dietetics at Bahçeşehir University regarding the role of nutrition and gut microbiota in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Students in the medical department displayed higher overall knowledge compared to those in nutrition and dietetics. However, within each department, first-year students exhibited greater knowledge about the relationship between gut microbiota and AD than second-year students. These findings emphasize the importance of early education in establishing a strong foundation of knowledge. Caution is necessary when generalizing the results due to limitations such as potential bias and limited sample representativeness. Recommendations include incorporating targeted educational interventions and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance knowledge in this field. Addressing these findings and limitations will better prepare future healthcare professionals to understand the impact of nutrition and gut microbiota on AD.
