The impact of leadership and entrepreneurship in small business performance - Implementation of Marmara Recycling Industrial Region

The Impact of Leadership and Entrepreneurship on Business Performance has a significant impact on SMEs known as Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. SMEs are the components of the real sector. SMEs have an important place in Turkey as well as in other countries in terms of their contribution to the problem of production, investment and unemployment. The definition of SME, which varies according to the economies of the countries, is not legal but has an economic meaning. Generally, the main criteria in many definitions are the number of employees employed in firms and the value of year-end turnover. The aim of this thesis is to explore the impact of Leadership and Entrepreneurship on SME Performance in many aspects. In the first part of the study, the place, importance and development of SMEs in the Turkish economy are examined. Then, the definition, importance and effect of Leadership and Entrepreneurship on Business Performance are explained. The effect of Leadership and Entrepreneurship tendencies of SME executives on Business Performance was investigated with a field study conducted in the Marmara Recyclers Cooperative in Gebze District of Kocaeli. Face-to-face interview technique was used in the research. In the light of the interview findings, it was understood that most of the enterprises were family companies, they had problems in the devolution of authority, they did not attach importance to the training of employees, that R & D was not given sufficient importance and institutionalization could not be fully provided and that the financial problem was still the biggest problem for the companies. In order to solve this problem, scientific solution was discussed and suggestions were developed. Key words: SME, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Business Performance
