Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Aim: The aim of this study was evaluation of the cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) image of 50 patients at the ages of 8-15 suspecting root fracture and root fracture occurred, exposed to dental traumatic. In our study, with three dimensional tomographic images that we obtained from patients a more reliable, detailed, objective, true to size and exactly the measurements were made. CBCT, clinician wants to, investigated the section localization, number and orientation of root fracture as more distinct and superior to from periapical X-ray. Materials and Method: : All of the individuals included in the study were obtained images with volumetric three-dimensional dental tomography range of 0,3 voxel and 8.9 seconds. (i-CAT®, Model 17-19, Imaging Sciences International, Hatfield, Pa USA). The information obtained from the history and CBCT images of patients, were evaluated using chi-square test statistical method the mean and the distribution of the independent variables. Patients with luxation post- dental traumatic, semirigid splint was applied with the help of 0.5 mm full round orthodontic wire and composite. Results: Ranging from ages 8-15 participated in the study have been exposed to trauma was detected tooth root fracture injury in 97 of 50 children. Horizontal root fracture 63.9% of the 97 tooth, the oblique root fracture in 31.9%, both the horizontal and oblique root fracture in 1.03%, comminuted fracture in 2.06% and thirds both horizontally as well as vertical root fracture in 1.03% was observed. Examined the localization of the root fractures were found to 97 tooth of 96 the maxillary incisors and 1 the mandibular teeth. The most affected teeth, respectively of, are the upper molar teeth (41.23% left, right, 37.11%), upper right lateral teeth (11:34%), upper left lateral teeth (27.9%) and lower central incisor (1.03%), Conclusion: Today, CBCT was selected as an alternative to non-adequate of diagnosis root fractures with conventional radiography, demonstrated superior characteristics than conventional radiography in determination of root fracture in patients suffering from trauma, CBCT has been provided more conveniences seeing the results of diagnosis and treatment for clinician. CBCT will seems to be replace conventional radiography the future of dentistry. Key Words: CBCT, dental trauma, root fracture.
