Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the frequency of missing third molar teeth in individuals with congenital tooth deficiency. 617 individuals between the ages of 12-18 with different tooth deficiencies were included in the study and they were divided into 3 subgroups as congenital tooth deficiency, 20-year-old tooth deficiency, and total tooth deficiency as a result of the study on panoramic films. GoGn/SN, SNA, SNB, ANB values were measured on the cephalometric radiographs of the cases and sagittal-vertical direction classifications were made. These groups were divided into subgroups according to malocclusion classification, vertical face structure, number of missing teeth, area of missing teeth and gender, these subgroups were examined and compared among themselves. It is the most common 20-year-old tooth deficiency in tooth deficiency groups. This is followed by total tooth deficiency and congenital tooth deficiency. Among all groups, the most missing teeth are seen in girls. There was no difference between the missing tooth groups and malocclusion classifications. Differences were found between missing tooth groups and vertical orientation classifications. Hyperdivergent facial structure was more common, especially in cases with missing third molar teeth, while Normodivergent facial structure was observed less frequently. The craniofacial structures of different groups with missing teeth vary. It has been determined that the rate of third molar missing teeth in cases of total tooth deficiency differs according to the quadrants. This shows that in patients with total tooth deficiency, 20-year-old tooth deficiency may be seen more frequently in certain regions. Again, in total tooth deficiency, the absence of 20-year-olds was more common than in the 20-year-old tooth deficiency group. The results of this study should be evaluated in terms of the relationship between tooth deficiency and functional matrix. This information should ensure that attention is paid to the location and distribution of missing teeth in the treatment planning of patients with total tooth deficiency.
