Abstract (EN)

In this study its aimed to understand steel construction materials in technical meaning that has been using in dwelling architecture in our country and comparing its costs to reinforced concrete system which is widely used. For this purpose in the first three chapter general characteristics of steel construction materials and steeel construction, previous studies about this subject and materials and methods used in this study are discussed. In the fourth chapter, at first, historical progress of steel construction and its chemical and mechanical features are mentioned. Afterward seven representative constructions are examined on the subject. Finally the dimension of steel construction and reinforced concrete of a sample building is prepared and its material quantity and cost is calculated. In the fifth chapter out of the results of the sample building project construction costs, time, materials, labour, construction weights and recycling are compared between the steel construction and reinforced concrete construction.
