Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the migration processes, migration experiences, living conditions, work lives, family relationships, and social integration processes of Afghan migrants in Turkey have been examined in depth. This research covers Afghan migrants residing in the Selçuklu, Meram and Karatay districts of Konya province. Migration inevitably leads to both positive and negative impacts on all aspects of individuals' lives. Additionally, the migration process can also be considered as a process of re-socialization for individuals. However, this process of re-socialization also involves some disadvantages. The aim of this study is to examine the negative effects and disadvantages of migration. In this study, the semi-structured interview technique, one of the most commonly used qualitative research methods, was employed to conduct interviews with 30 male and female Afghan migrants residing in the central districts of Konya. After the interviews were completed, the data obtained from the Afghan migrants were categorized under the headings 'Migration Process and Migration Experience', 'Family and Relationships', 'Work Life and Professional Integration', and 'Social Integration and Socialization Processes' within the framework of the research findings. Research findings have revealed that the vast majority of migrants reach Turkey through irregular migration routes and face significant security, economic, and psychological challenges during this process. It has been determined that migrants come to Turkey due to economic hardships and security concerns, work in temporary and insecure jobs, experience difficulties in language and cultural adaptation, that women live under more vulnerable conditions, and that there is a need for structural support in the integration process. The research highlights the individual, social, and cultural impacts of migration and emphasizes the necessity of human-centered and inclusive migration policies.
