Abstract (EN)

Objective: In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the echocardiographic findings, cardiopulmonary biomarkers (NT-proBNP, cTnI, Myoglobin, CK-MB, D-Dimer, and cCRP), coagulation profiles (APTT, PT, FIB), and hematological changes in blood in dogs diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, Anaplasmosis, Leishmaniasis and Babesiosis using rapid test kits. Material and Methods: The animal material of the study consisted of dogs of different breeds, ages, and genders that had not previously experienced heart disease and were mono-infected (n=40) and co-infected (n=27) with Anaplasmosis, Dirofilariasis, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmaniasis, and Babesiosis, as well as healthy dogs (n=18) brought to the Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Internal Medicine Clinics and Izmir Cat & Dog Veterinary Polyclinic. These included dogs mono-infected with Anaplasmosis, Dirofilariasis, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmaniasis, and Babesiosis (n=40), co-infected dogs (n=27) and healthy dogs (n=18). The dogs included in the study were evaluated in terms of echocardiographic findings, cardiopulmonary biomarkers, and coagulation profiles. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA tests were used for data analysis. Results: The mono-infected, co-infected, and healthy control groups of dogs included in the study were compared. According to the echocardiographic data, significant changes were found in LA (p=0.017), LA/Ao (p=0.035), SV (p=0.018), and FS (p=0.011) values. According to the analysis data of cardiopulmonary biomarkers, significant changes were found in CRP (p=0.000), NT-proBNP (p=0.012), and CK-MB (p=0.004) values. According to the analysis data of coagulation profiles, significant changes were found in PT (p=0.004), APTT (p=0.000), FIB (p=0.000), and D-Dimer (p=0.000) values. Conclusion: According to the data obtained from the study, it is believed that echocardiographic examination, evaluation of cardiopulmonary biomarkers and evaluation of coagulation profiles are necessary for the diagnosis of vector-borne diseases, determining the prognosis of the disease, and determining treatment options."
